John Neumeier’s Lady of the Camellias – a large-scale, narrative ballet set to original concert music by Frédéric Chopin – is based on the novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas junior, written in 1848. Produced in 1986 at the Studio Hamburg, this film stars legendary ballerina Marcia Haydée as Dumas’s beautiful, doomed heroine Marguerite and Ivan Liska as an ideal Armand.
