White Man Sleeps
Siobhan Davies
This book provides a unique creative insight into that seminal dance work, offering a number of different angles on the piece. Opening with an interview with the coreographer herself, the book places "White Man Sleeps" in the context of her artistic career, and provides a detailed account of the choreography itself. The subsequent sections deal with the collaboration process, and include recollections by one of the original dancers, as well as insights into the music, set, lighting, costume and filming, and finally a section on interpreting the dance.
